About this blog

It’s basic stuff.

  • Websites aren’t standalone walled ‘assets’. The corporate website may not be dead. But it’s not what it used to be.
  • “If we build it, they will come” - not anymore.
  • Purchase is not the only goal.
  • Taking three months to build something that only handful of people will see isn’t a good use of money.
  • A website isn’t just a billboard - with added video!

On this site, I want to look at examples of how people are using the mixed up, messy web to tell stories. It could be brands, activists, bloggers, governments: it doesn’t matter. I also look at examples of how its done badly - missed opportunities to reach audiences and tell these stories.

Because if there’s one thing I’ve learned about working on the web it’s that a story is nothing if its not finding its audience.

Oh, and my name is Dom Waghorn and I work at Syzygy UK as Head of User Engagement.
