Douglas Coupland, Generation A and the Earth Sandwich
I’m an unashamed Douglas Coupland fanboy and read everything he writes.
With his new book out, Generation A, he’s in the spotlight again and is being interviewed all over the place. But for an author who has a love/hate relationship with technology, it would be no surprise to see the book being heavily pushed through social media.
Well, yes and no. On his website, Coupland explicitly states in weird third person speak: “Douglas Coupland has no Facebook or MySpace page”. But he is on Twitter and used to blog for the grownup New York Times. He’s also sanctioned an interesting video interview which is currently on Adrants. I’ve posted it below.
Footnote: in the earth sandwich piece, he matches Wanganui in New Zealand with Madrid. Only Wanganui is spelt wrong. I can’t imagine too many people noticed this.
